I was MIA, but now im back!

Just got the charger in the post for my laptop today. So that’s my excuse for no updates in a while. So what have I been doing since i got over here. I have been doing a one man expose on a “lot” of Irish bars in the city. Looking for a piece of home from home. Slight aside, learn an Irish accent if you don’t have one . It s been my key to sooo many free drinks, its like, if i were from somewhere else other than Ireland, we would be introduced to each other by hand shake, but because I’m Irish its “a shot for my good man”. Also shot s over here are of Jameson , which is nice if you like Jameson otherwise agh. but not to be rude, i will drink away, also one of the locals on my travels bought me an Irish car bomb, tastes horrible but has an aftershock to it. Touristy wise ive been going to one or two museums and went to Madam Tussuad’s which was quite cool. Have to try organise some sort of party for the house I’m staying in , its too good of an opportunity to go to waste and i shall come up with something!

Here in The Big Apple

So moved into the apartment yesterday, after the one night stay in the hostel. It was a nice place was talking to a lot of people in the same position. Who had come over for the summer from Ireland. The place was clean and secure and not badly situated. Been travelling around on the subway, which is a cool way to travel, bought a metro card and just swipe in to get on. Went into Time Square on the first day to get some food in the Espn zone. This place is kind of a Mecca for sports fans. With screens everywhere (toilets included), showing every sports game imaginable, its really cool. The food was lovely, but so much of it. With the size of the portions. I could have rationed it and it would have done me over the winter, but never the less it was cheap. Then onto the apartment in Brooklyn yesterday the place is great so big and 5 minutes from the subway. Anyway that’s a little brief. ill get back with pics, but its really early in the morning over here cause I’m still on running on Irish time.

Count Down to D-Day.

Flying out on the 27th. So just getting some last minute things wrapped up. Converting Euros to Dollars, which is great at the moment as the dollar is doing so badly. Sorted out a hostel for the first night, because accommodation doesn’t start till the 28th. I will be staying in Hostelling International New york. It looks like a cool place, it has wifi, wii’s and a projector room, so wait for my impending review. All in all, just bored waiting can’t wait to be in New York.  Also planning a major Irish Pub Crawl around the city, all will be revealed later!

Have Somewhere to Live

Had been looking for accommodation for a while, when I came across this site lodgis.com. I found a sweet three bedroom place that was well within mine and my mates price range. It worked out about $1500 a month, which is quite cheap about €700 between us. Its located in Brooklyn which is about 15mins subway trip to Manhattan. It is located in a mainly Caribbean and Jewish community and all in all it should be a cool place to stay. Its within walking distance of two parks and plenty of pubs :-) . Just Checked today and its a month till D-day. I just cant wait. Now back to study for exams before I go!

Got My Tickets!

Finally after much time, I have been allowed book my tickets from go4less. I’m kinda chuffed , the tickets worked out at €508 from 27th of May to 3rd of September and its direct with Delta airlines. The first quotes we got from the flight search engine, where €670 and €640 with stop- overs in Amsterdam. But by leaving two days earlier , I saved over a hundred quid and cut out the hassle of switching planes in a different country, Now that flights are out of the way , just have to get house and job hunting, also will probable have to look for more room mate/s. Will keep use informed with my search.
